The XMDesigner is the process authoring tool for process owners and process analysts. It is used throughout the process lifecycle of Visualise, Digitise and Optimise.
It enables you during the Visualise phase to:
> Design processes graphically with drag and drop capability
> Reuse existing Visio flowdiagrams as Visio 2007/2010 is embedded in the XMDesigner.
> Reduce time to deliver processes with a familiar Office 2010 look and feel
During the Digitise phase it allows you to:
> Add Process Management properties to the Visio-based flow diagrams
> Define dynamically generated XMQForms with wizards for quick deployment
> Use XMPro's Dynamic Allocation Logic (DAL) to sequence dynamic processes
> Define the Business Rules associated with each process, activity, form and form field
> Define the integration to other external business systems with XMConnect etc.
> Utilise internal and external web services as part of a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)
> Deploy the process defined in XMDesigner to all the XMWorkspace user interfaces
> Manage development, test and live environments
During the Optimise phase process owners can:
> Deploy improved versions of the process with full Version Management capability
> Use the process intelligence from XMInsight to change processes in XMDesigner
> Roll back to previous process configuration if necessary
The XMDesigner allows process owners and analysts to define a process once and use it in all the various front ends. XMPro's Single Model, Multi Mode (SMMM) capability reduces the time to deploy and maintain process and reduces the Total Cost of Ownership.
Design once -> Use many times for improved efficiency

XMDesigner for Dynamic Event-based as well as Structured Workflow-based processes
The XMPro XMDesigner is used to define both adaptive, dynamic, event-based processes and structured, workflow-based processes. Both types of processes are defined and maintained in one place. XMDesigner maintains both process types in the same repository and publish them to the same XMWorkspaces. Users find this useful because:
> All the processes are in one place for IT to control
> Both structured and unstructured processes can be published in the same workspace
> Process Performance can be measured accross both type of processes for improvement
> Use Visio process stencils or BPMN stencils depending on your preferred modelling approach
